The ski season is underway. Yippee!
I don’t think the Ski Resorts could have asked for a better start to the season than the large dump over the past couple of days. The media have made a very big song and dance about the weather this week and I’m sure that many people are beginning to wonder if a winter break is something to plan in the next few months.
Now I’m not just talking about the seasonal skiers here. Those addicted to the cold white stuff would be monitoring the conditions very closely and off in the car at the first sign of snow! I’m talking about the first time skiers, or those that rarely make a trip up to the mountains. The economic downturn has forced most Australians to think about holidaying locally and putting their money back into Australian economy. What a better way to do that than to head up to Mt Buller for a weekend trip or holiday?!
Mt Buller Ski Resort is the closest of the major ski resorts to Melbourne. It’s only three hours drive away and very accessible for day skiing, short weekend trips or an extended break. Seasonal skiers know how to get up to Buller quickly; we know the best routes, how long it will take, where to stop, what to take and what to do once up on the mountain. But what about newbies? Trying to find out all this information is quite hard. There are many ways and options to get up to Mt Buller. Each of these options have differing price and time factors and all with pro’s and con’s.
I’m a very cost-savvy, time-effective person. If there’s a better way of getting to Mt Buller cheaply and in minimal time, I’ll find it!! Over the next week or so I will explore every option possible for getting up to Mt Buller, laying out all the information and details for first timers. This will include method of transport, travel routes and getting up the mountain.
The end goal of this is to have a concise set of options that meet different budgets. I’ll be starting with the most used method of getting to Mt Buller. Driving.
