Mt Buller Fire Update 12

Hi All,

The fire up at Buller continues to remain active around the Chamois Bowl area and Standard Run. Fire Crews completed backburning on the east side of the village and are patrolling the village area for spot fires and embers. Properties close to the fire have not been affected.

The Mt Buller Road remains closed to tourists and is only available to residents and emergency services. If the fire continues to travel eastwards down the mountain, thus reducing the fire threat to the village,  the resort may be re opened in the next few days.

Cheers

Mt Buller Fire Update 12

Hi All,

Have recieved some information from Caroline, as the Buller Wesite is slow at providing updates.

The Fires have gone through the walking trails on the South East slopes, affecting Cornhill and the Water Treatment plant. The fire seems to be moving Eastwards, away from the village, towards Horsehill.

Nutcracker, and other properties in the area, remain intact as well as infrastructure.

The fire crews are very weary but they are ok, and I’m sure are looking forward to a well deserved rest after the clean up.

The Tourist Road remains closed till further notice. Having lost revenue from being closed for the past 6 weeks, I hope Tourists support the community and visit the area once it’s reopened.

 Cheers

Mt Buller Fire Update 11

There has been an update on the Mt Buller fire situation.

Fires are within 100 meters of the Village proper. It has surrounded the treatment plant and is closing in on south western properties.

I will continue to post as news comes to hand.

Mt Buller Fire Update 10

Hi All,

Fires have progressed overnight and are now 200 meters from the Village proper, with the most concern being the fire that is active in the Chamois region. Stirling and Chamois road are within striking distance of the fire and preparations are being made to defend properties.

The Mt Buller Road has been closed to Tourists and those that were staying on the mountain are now leaving.

No fire alerts have been issued thus far. Looks like a long weekend for the already weary fierfighters.

Email from Tahoe

Hi all,

I was thrilled to recieve an email from Jill Schott today. Jill had some positive comments about the online photo album. I have been asked to add a Tahoe link which I have added under the ‘Blogroll’ section on the side of the page, it’s a link to all the resorts in the Tahoe area.  Hopefully Jill will send us some pics of the slopes for us to look at when she does some skiing.

Apparently Tahoe is expecting 18″ of snow tonight. I can say without reservation that I am jealous!

 Cheers
