Mammoth Mountain Bikini Run 2008!

The Mammoth Mountain Bikini Run is a critical mass of college students, wearing next to nothing, taking a run from the 11,053 foot summit to the Main Lodge. Weaving between traditionally clad guests, bikini runners come to Mammoth for a good time and to take advantage of the mountain’s seemingly endless snowpack year after year.

The Bikini Run serves as a reminder that Mammoth is starting to ramp up for the spring ski season. Mammoth Mountain plans to remain open through to May 26, weather permitting.

Engadin Ski Marathon

What a cool photo.

This is taken at the Engadin Ski Marathon on the 9th of March this year.

The Engadin Ski Marathon is an annual event where more than 10,000 skiers take part on the 2nd Sunday of March every year in Switzerland. The 42.2 km race starts in Maloja and finishes in S-Chanf near the Swiss mountain resort of St Moritz.

‘Wild’ High Level Route

Absolutely stunning pic.

I spotted this blog on the My Snow Sports website and the writer, Ise, is currently participating in the ‘Wild’ High Level Route, a local classic long tour held by the skioff-piste.com team in Switzerland.  It starts in canton Vaud and crosses through Berne and Valais. The tour benefits from high lift access at the start leading to remote and wild terrain.

Sounds like a fun adventure, possibly not for the faint hearted!

Amazing Pic from Colorado

Yet another awesome pic from Dave’s BackCountry Ski Blog.

This was taken from his recent trip to Mount of the Holy Cross. I love all the mountains in the background, that’s a beautiful sight.

Mount of the Holy Cross is the northernmost fourteener in the Sawatch Range, part of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, and is located in the Holy Cross Wilderness near Holy Cross City (a ghost town). It was named after the distinctive cross-shaped snowfield on the northeast face. See here for a photo

(A Fourteener is a mountaineering term, in the United States, for a mountain that exceeds 14,000 feet (4,267.2 m) above mean sea level.)

Early Snow at Mt Buller!!

Kofflers Web Cam

This was the webshot taken by the Mount Buller Cameras at 6:10pm last night.

Snow was forecast down to 1400m.

It’s pretty cold here in Melbourne this morning so hopefully the weather is reflected up in the Alps too.

Nice!
