Mt Buller Australia Day Weekend

Hi All,

Mark and I decided to head up to Mt Buller for the Australia Day long weekend. Just to get away from Melbourne and relax. We’ve always found Mt Buller relaxing no matter what time of the year it is.

Surprisingly the mountain was pretty busy. There were a fair amount of Mountain Bikers and Dirt Bikes around and Mt Buller were putting on a few attractions in the village for the people staying for the weekend.

Mark and I were pretty much interested in just having a relaxing weekend and taking an opportunity to do some exploring.

Sunday morning we got up fairly early and decided to go for a hike up to the Summit. We walked up to BB2, cut across to Spurs and took the trail down to Grimus Chairlift. Then we walked up Summit Slide and continued all the way to the top. After admiring the views we decided to continue our hike by joining the Summit View Trail which cuts around the top of Wombat and Little Buller Spur, around the Mens Downhill and finishing at Skyline opposite the BB2 shed. Monday was less extreme with just a small hit of Tennis in the morning before we came down the mountain.

I took some pictures of the new chairlift that is being put in for the 2008 season. All the old poles from Abom and BB2 chair are gone and the BB2 shed is getting rededveloped to accommodate the new lift.

We also noticed that there are new street signs and now bus shelters at the old shuttle stops.

Ski Season is 5 months away…..I’m pretty excited.
